Let's see how to change the gear shift lever and knob in your BMW 3 Series. You don't need many tools; just a pair of pliers and a screwdriver will do. First, remove the clip (located at the bottom of the vehicle) that holds the gear shift lever (lift the car off the ground). Once that's done, enter the cabin and remove the shift boot using pliers or a screwdriver. Press outward on the clip that holds it securely and turn it clockwise. Once this is done, you can pull out the lever and insert the new one with the knob already attached. Reattach everything carefully, ensuring that the clips are properly engaged.
