The FRM (Footwell Module) is a management computer located in the pedal area, and its job is to act as an intelligent switch for the electrical components related to the front area of the cabin. It is sadly known for being one of the most delicate components in BMW vehicles. The symptoms of a faulty FRM are numerous, with the most common being lighting failures: non-working headlights, rear lights off, non-operational turn signals, and continuous warnings on the dashboard. Another classic symptom includes issues with power windows, mirrors, central locking, and windshield wipers. You need to use a specific BMW OBD scanner to read the FRM error codes; sometimes the failure is caused by mere corrosion on the connectors, but most of the time, you will need to resort to the BMW service network.
