Let's see how to reset the service light on a BMW 3 Series E90/E91/E92 without diagnostic tools: turn on the ignition, press and hold the "trip" button on the dashboard next to the tachometer for 10/18 seconds until you see the "oil service" and "inspection" messages appear. Select the item of interest using the "bc" button located on the left turn signal lever, and press until the message "reset?" appears. Press "bc" again to confirm, and the message will change to "reset in progress" and then become "----" or display the new calculated distance. Turn off the ignition and after a moment, turn it back on: the light will be off.
