How to Install Cameras on the Vehicle

The video shows the procedure for installing some cameras on a BMW X5. Gently remove the reflective plate from the mirror using a screwdriver and plastic spatula, then disconnect the connection. Unscrew the screws and also remove the plastic structure. Screw the camera mount into the mirror housing, then secure the housing in a vise (first cover the vise with protective tape) and drill a hole using a 6.5 mm bit, using the camera mount hole as a reference. Remove the mount and take the camera. Measure the diameter of the lens and use a hole diameter gauge to select the bit for drilling the housing. Remove any debris from drilling and also take out the plastic pieces inside the mount. Insert the camera into the mount and screw everything to the housing. Now remove the door panel and disconnect all connections; also detach the inner window frame. Disconnect the mirror connection and remove the arm that supports it. Now install the wiring through the mirror housing. Drill an 8 mm hole at the indicated point in the image (depending on your model) and pass the camera cable through it. Also drill a 7 mm hole in the wiring support and pass the cable through; now insert the cable support into the previously drilled 8 mm hole. Gather the colored ends of the cable in the connector, then reattach the mirror arm. Reconnect the mirror connection and connect the new camera connector. The wiring extension will pass inside the rubber channel of the door. Reassemble the mirror in all its parts, then reinstall the door panel. The second part of the video explains how to mount the camera in the front license plate area. Insert the camera into the support arm, screw it to it, and cover it with its cover. Also screw this cover to the support. Remove the front license plate, then using a measuring pendulum, mark the drilling points for the support installation with a marker. Connect the wiring, drill the marked points, and mount the support. Finally, reinstall the license plate. For the wiring extension, proceed from the engine area on the passenger side. In the last part of the video, a camera is mounted in the trunk area: detach the small cover near the trunk handle, open the trunk, unscrew the screws that hold the inner panel, and detach it. Mount the camera to its support and insert everything into the space you uncovered in the first operation. Connect the wiring and reassemble the inner panel of the trunk.
