Before you begin, remove and extract the emergency key from the electric key of your BMW 3 Series by pressing the release button. Start by prying off and removing the battery cover using a large flathead screwdriver.

This will expose the dead battery of the key. Next, extract the battery from its housing, completing the disassembly. To install the new battery, simply follow these steps in reverse, and you will have finished the replacement.
