How to Remove the Rear Bumper from the BMW 3 Series

This guide shows how to replace the rear bumper on the BMW 3 Series. The first step is to remove the bolts located at the bottom of the bumper and in the rear wheel wells. After removing these screws, you need to unscrew two screws located under the wheel well panel. At the top of the bumper, use a small flathead screwdriver to detach the covers of the two upper mounting bolts. Next, remove the taillights by first detaching the inner covers, the mounting bolts, and the power cables. Using a trim removal tool, detach the bumper retaining clips. There are two bumper mounting clips on the bottom of the taillight housing. Now, you can slide off the bumper. Install the new replacement part in the reverse order of disassembly.
