Before starting, we will have to open the tailgate of the luggage compartment of our BMW 5 Series. Let's start by unhooking the hooks that secure the hydraulic pistons, using a slotted screwdriver to pry. Next, we will have to disengage and remove the two support pistons. When we have completed this last step, we will have freed the hydraulic pistons, which we can remove, and we will have finished the disassembly. To mount the two new pistons on our BMW 5 Series, we will have to follow this simple procedure in reverse, and we will have completed the replacement.
