Replacing the Key Fob Rechargeable Battery on BMW 3 Series Touring E91

If you are thinking about replacing the rechargeable battery in your BMW 3 Series key fob, you are in the right tutorial. In just a few minutes, you will learn how to do this completely DIY. First, gather a thin soldering iron, a utility knife, and some quick-drying glue. First, insert the blade of the utility knife between the two halves of the remote, going around the perimeter while being careful not to cut too deep to avoid damaging the circuit board. Now remove the 2 solder joints on the back corresponding to the terminals of the rechargeable battery housing and take out the dead battery. Now replace it with the new battery, ensuring the terminals are in the correct position: one is small and the other is large to facilitate placement. Now you can test if the remote works; if it does, you can reassemble the remote by applying a light strip of glue around the perimeter of the shell before closing it.
