Replacing a Broken or Misaligned Thermostat

This video shows you how to replace the thermostat. The thermostat is an essential component for the proper functioning of the engine and its cooling system. A broken or misaligned thermostat does not open and prevents the coolant from entering the engine, causing overheating. To replace the thermostat, drain the coolant from the drain valve located on the radiator. Then, remove the bolts holding the thermostat and pull it out, cleaning any remaining material from the housing. Install the new thermostat and a new gasket, placing the thermostat with the spring side into the engine, and reassemble everything.
