Engine Overheating Explanation

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003
Part: Engine

This video shows how to prevent engine overheating. If your engine is overheating, there can be multiple causes; first, check the coolant level in the overflow tank and then directly from the radiator cap. If coolant is present, the problem may lie elsewhere. Check the thermostat operation and ensure there are no leaks from the water pump. In the worst-case scenario, you may have burned the engine head, causing coolant to burn in the engine. To verify this, check for sludge in the radiator, which is a symptom of a burned head.
