Instructions for Replacing the Rear Window Seal

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003

To replace the rear window seal, first remove the corner segments at each corner. Then, carefully lift and pull out the actual seal with all necessary precautions. You may use some tools to assist you, and do not perform this work on a car exposed to the sun with hot glass. Clean any adhesive residue before installing the new seal. Optionally, spray some lubricant to help slide the seal into place more easily. Use a tool to push the seal as far in as possible against the rear window, leaving the appropriate gap between the seal and the body. Now, reattach the lower part of the seal near the trunk lip.
