Cylinder Head Gasket Replacement

Model: BMW Serie 5 E34 - Years 1988-1995
Part: Engine

If the engine has overheated due to a damaged head gasket, it is likely that this has caused warping of the cylinder head itself. For this reason, always have the cylinder head machined and then check its flatness using a straightedge and a feeler gauge. Perform the same check on the engine block. Clean the threads of the cylinder head mounting holes, ensuring no debris ends up in the cylinders. Then, install both the new gasket and the cylinder head, and tighten the new set of bolts in a crisscross pattern using the torque specifications recommended by the manufacturer.
