Replacing the Intake Manifold

Model: BMW Serie 3 E46 - Years 1998-2006
Part: Engine

The intake manifold is a cover made of aluminum, steel, or plastic located on top of the engine. It is secured to the engine by an intake manifold gasket, which can be made of plastic or rubber and directs the air-fuel mixture into the corresponding cylinder where it is burned to produce power. Coolant flows from the intake manifold to the cylinder heads to reduce engine temperature. A leaking manifold gasket can cause air leaks, resulting in a loss of vacuum and engine performance.
