To replace the battery in the BMW X1 remote, slide out the key along with the cover located on the top of the remote: you will need to press the side button of the device to do this. Once the key is removed, pry it out of its housing to detach the cover on the back of the remote. Under this cover, you will find the battery, which can be removed from its housing and replaced with a new replacement part. After replacing the battery, close the remote and insert the key.
