To replace the battery in the BMW X1 key fob, pull the key out from the top of the device, removing the associated plastic part as well. This will allow you to leverage an object in the groove that separates the two halves of the fob, fully opening it. By lifting the green coding chip, you can access the battery and remove it from its housing. Once the new battery is in place, close the fob again and insert the key back into the top.

How to Open the Bonnet on the Lancia Y
