This guide shows how to replace the key fob battery for the BMW X1 E84. If the key fob has a small cover on the back near the battery, first remove the mechanical key. Then, using a small flathead screwdriver or a tool with a thin tip, lift the cover from the slot created after removing the battery. If the key fob has a solid back, simply remove the mechanical key and, inserting a screwdriver into the slot created, lift the entire back cover. The battery is a button cell, model CR2032. Close the back cover and reinsert the key. Check that the key fob functions correctly.
