To replace the battery in the BMW X1 remote, first, remove the key and the cover located on the top of the device. Once this is removed, pry inside its housing to detach the back cover of the remote, under which the battery is located. The battery can then be extracted from its housing and replaced with a new replacement part; after the new battery is inserted into its slot, cover it with the back cover and insert the key back into the top.
