To reset the brake wear light on a BMW X5, turn on the ignition so you can navigate the menu using the button on the left side of the instrument cluster. Press this button for a few seconds until a message appears indicating that you can reset the brake pad wear light.

Then, press and hold the same button for a few seconds until the light reset occurs. You can also verify that the reset was successful from the onboard computer display in the center of the dashboard.
