To replace the head gasket on a BMW 3 Series, open the hood to access the components inside the engine bay. Disconnect the engine head by removing its mounting bolts so that the old gasket can be removed. After replacing the gasket, install the timing chain guides and the valve springs before repositioning the head.

Once the head is in place, secure it with the appropriate bolts.
