Alternator Replacement Instructions

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003

To replace the alternator, first disconnect the battery. Then, remove the engine air filter box (AIR BOX) to access the alternator. Next, loosen the tensioner for the auxiliary belt to remove the belt and free the alternator pulley. Disconnect the wires from the back of the alternator and the corresponding connector. Then, proceed to remove the mounting bolts: one of the bolts also supports a idler pulley. Remove the old alternator from its location and install the new (or remanufactured) one, ensuring to first insert the idler pulley, aligning the corresponding centering pin.
