Front Door Handle Removal Instructions

Model: BMW Serie 7 MK 3, E38 - Years 1994-2001
Part: Handle

To remove the outer door handle, you first need to take off the panel. After removing the mounting screws, disengage the snap fasteners along the edges and disconnect the plugs and the lock cable to complete the removal. The handle is attached to its support with a metal tab that must be slid to release it. Locate the tab and slide it by pressing it with a screwdriver until the handle is free and can be pulled from its housing. If you also remove the support plate, it will be easier to understand the locking mechanism of the handle.

First, remove the dashboard cover plastics using a plastic tool, then detach the central frame of the stereo (where the air vents are located) along with the related clips of the control buttons. Once the stereo is free from constraints, unscrew the fastening screws on its sides. Pull the stereo out by hand and disconnect the cables (power and antenna). To reassemble, proceed in reverse.
