BMW Serie 3 - Video tutorial

Model: BMW Serie 3 E46 - Years 1998-2006
Part: Suspensions
Operation: Adjustable shock absorbers installation instructions

If you want to equip the car with a sportier trim (to the detriment of driving comfort) it is possible to install adjustable shock absorbers which, in addition to being more rigid, also allow the preload of the relative spring through a special ring nut; then lift the car on suitable car stands and remove the front wheel; then remove the connecting rod from the shock absorber and the pin that fixes the base of the shock absorber to the hub support in order to remove it; then access the engine compartment and remove the nuts that secure the shock absorber support to the bodywork dome to complete its disassembly. Then proceed with the installation of the new shock absorbers by adjusting the upper plate so as to align the stud bolts with the holes in the dome; once the shock absorber has been fixed to the dome, insert it and fix it to the hub support and then adjust the height of the plate to which the connecting rod is to be fixed.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
