How to Replace the Rear Brake Pads on a BMW X3

To replace the rear brake pads on a BMW X3 with electric parking brake, connect a diagnostic tool to the vehicle, perform the operations indicated by the diagnostic tool, and when the message appears that the elements are released, you can work on the rear while keeping the diagnostic tool connected. Start with the left side by removing the wheel. Unscrew the bolts (hold one with a wrench and unscrew with the other) that secure the caliper to the bracket on the rotor, move the caliper aside, and remove the old pads. After removing the old pads, clean the bracket with a wire brush, install the new pads in the same way as the old ones, use a special tool to retract the caliper piston, reposition it on the rotor bracket, and screw in the bolts (hold one with a wrench and tighten with the other). Now clean the hub of the rotor with a wire brush and apply copper grease before reinstalling the wheel. Perform the same operation on the right side, but for the right side, once you disconnect the wear indicator for the pads, reconnect it to the caliper and then attach it to the various clips until it reaches the original connector. Get back in the vehicle and continue the procedure on the diagnostic tool, and the procedure is complete.
