Reprogramming the Key for the BMW 3 Series E46

If you have a damaged key for the BMW 3 Series E46 and want to avoid paying $250 for a duplicate, you can buy one for $15 from a discount store and configure it to only lock and unlock the vehicle remotely. To configure it, get in the car with the working remote, turn on the ignition, bring the two remotes close together, and turn the working key in the ignition 5 times. Then remove the key with the chip, keeping the remotes close, press the unlock button three times, holding it down, and after a few seconds, you will hear the car unlock and then lock. The operation is complete.
