Let's see how to change the oil and filter on a BMW E53 version: We will need a 36 mm socket wrench to open the filter cap and remove it. We will immediately place it in a container to dispose of it along with the engine oil; separate it from the cap and gasket (we will put a new one on the cap), then insert the new filter and immediately place it back in its position, closing it with the 36 mm wrench. Now we lift the car, and with a 17 mm socket wrench, we open the drain plug to let all the oil flow into a container, which we will dispose of along with the filter. Now it's time to top up the oil from the top cap: 6 liters of SAE 5W30. Now we can close the cap and the operation is finished.
