Replacing Front Shock Absorber Springs

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003

To replace the front shock absorber springs, you need to remove the shock absorbers and have the appropriate clamps to compress them. Start by lifting the vehicle and removing the front wheel. Disconnect the tie rod end from the hub support, then disconnect the sway bar links from the suspension control arm. Next, remove the shock absorber mounting bolt from the hub support and widen it enough to extract it. Lower the vehicle to access the engine compartment and remove the shock absorber mount from the body strut tower. Once the shock absorber is removed, apply the clamps to compress the spring and remove the stem support, extract the spring, and insert the new one. Then reassemble the support and reverse the steps to reinstall it in the vehicle.
