How to Reset the Service Light in the BMW 1 Series

To reset the service reminder on a BMW 1 Series F40 (2021 model), follow these steps: Sit in the driver's seat and ensure all doors are closed. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position. Do not start the engine. Use the iDrive controller (the knob or touchpad) to access the "CAR" menu on the infotainment display. Within the "CAR" menu, select "Vehicle Status". Scroll down to find and select "Service Requirements". From the list of service items, find the one indicating the service that needs to be reset (e.g., "Oil Service", "Vehicle Check", "Brake Fluid", etc.). Highlight the item by scrolling to it. Press and hold the iDrive controller until a submenu appears. In the submenu, select the option to reset the service reminder. This option may be labelled as "Reset", "Confirm", or "Reset Service". Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm the reset. Once the reset is complete, a confirmation message should appear on the display indicating that the service reminder has been reset.
