These brief steps will show you how to manually open the fuel door on a BMW 5 Series in case of an emergency, following the instructions below. This operation is performed when the remote battery suddenly dies and you cannot open the vehicle or the fuel door; first, open the trunk and remove the right side cover.

Now pull the cord to open the fuel door and unscrew the fuel cap to refuel; perform this procedure also when the fuel door lock is stuck.
