How to change oil and filter on the BMW E46 Series E version

In this video we see how to change the motor oil on a BMW 3 Series E46 version: first we open the oil tank cap and pull up the inspection dipstick. We will need to lift the car to access the oil pan underneath; get a basin to drain the old oil. We will then dispose of it at an authorized center. While the oil is draining, let's take care of the filter. We go back up and with the key we open the cover and pull up the filter; this too must be placed on a tray to avoid dirtying the engine. Remove the gasket from the cover, which we will then clean with WD-40. Put the new gasket and insert the new filter, then close the cap. Now we go back under the car. Clean well then put new cap and gasket. Lower the car and pour 6.5 liters of SAE 5W40 into the oil tank, then measure the level. Close the cap and run the engine for a few minutes, then re-measure the level. If it is between min and max, we are good.
