In this tutorial, you will see how to replace the cigarette lighter socket in a BMW 1 Series, a task that is extremely simple and quick. First, ensure the key is not in the ignition for safety.

Then, lift the centre armrest and, using a plastic trim tool, unclip the surround containing the cigarette lighter socket. Disconnect the power connectors, unlock the internal clips of the socket, and separate it from the base.

At this point, you can fit the replacement and reassemble everything by simply following the reverse procedure.
