To replace the shift knob on a Chevrolet Colorado, start by removing the cup holder from the center console. Once this is removed, pry off the panel that surrounds the shift lever. After the panel is removed, lift the leather boot of the shifter, releasing the clip inside. This will disconnect the knob from the boot, allowing both pieces to be removed; after removal, install the new pieces and reassemble all other previously removed parts.
