The steps to start the battery of a Citroen Xsara Picasso using jumper cables and another vehicle are: -Turn off the engine of both vehicles and open the front hood of both vehicles; -Turn off anything that may draw power such as the radio, lights, and so on; -Connect the first red clamp to the positive terminal of the dead battery; -Connect the second red clamp to the positive terminal of the charged battery; -Connect the first black clamp to the negative terminal of the charged battery; -Connect the second black clamp to an unpainted metal part of the chassis, away from the battery; -Start the rescue vehicle and let the engine run for about 20 minutes so that the stalled car can start; -Disconnect the cables in the reverse order in which they were connected once the battery is charged; If the emergency maneuver is not successful, it is necessary to replace the battery of the stalled vehicle.
