First, get inside the car and remove the gear gaiter, detaching it by hand from the sides; then, remove the clip found on the gear knob by cutting it with pliers. Next, pull the gear knob upwards with force to extract it, and refit the new one; fit the knob into the gaiter first, securing it with the new clip, then refit everything in one go. Secure the gaiter at the sides and firmly insert the new knob.
