Cylinder Head Gasket Replacement

If there have been issues with coolant boiling, the most likely cause is damage to the cylinder head gasket. Once the cylinder head is removed, it is advisable to have it skimmed to ensure any deformations are eliminated, then check its flatness using a straight edge and a feeler gauge; repeat this operation on the cylinder block as well. Before installing the new gasket, it may be prudent to clean the threads of the cylinder head securing bolts, taking care not to let any debris fall into the cylinders. Finally, place the new gasket, the cylinder head, and tighten the securing bolts according to the reference pattern.
