Turning Off the Airbag Warning Light

Model: Fiat Punto MK 2, 188 - Years 1999-2011

To turn off the airbag warning light on the instrument panel, you need a diagnostic tool (it doesn't have to be the official tool; an aftermarket diagnostic tool will suffice).
The OBD (on-board diagnostics) port to connect the diagnostic tool is located just behind the glove compartment on the driver's left: use a large flat screwdriver (or a 5 pence coin) to turn the two screws securing the glove compartment 90° counter-clockwise and open it.
Then connect to the OBD port (located under the fuse box) and use the diagnostic tool to select the make and model of the vehicle, choose the airbag system, and read the fault memory: if the fault is "intermittent", it can be cleared and the warning light on the instrument panel turned off. After clearing, exit the diagnostic section, switch off, and then switch on the ignition to check that the light does not come back on after the self-check.
