How to Replace the Steering Rack Boot on a Fiat Panda

Model: Fiat Panda 141, MK 1 - Years 1980-2003

It can happen that continuous steering cycles from full right to full left can damage the boots applied between the tie rods and the steering rack body, especially with the aging of the rubber/plastic that makes them up; it is possible to replace this boot without removing either the rack or the wheel; lift the vehicle to gain more working space and unscrew the tie rod or axial joint from the end while leaving it fixed to the hub support: the axial joint has a spherical joint on the rack side that allows free movement; once the tie rod is separated from the end, also remove the lock nut and slide off the old boot, clean any dirt residue, apply grease, and insert the new boot securing it with ties before re-screwing the joint to the end.
