How to Replace the Timing Chain of a Fiat 500

Model: Fiat 500 Epoca - Years 1957-1975

Before you can start, open the rear engine cover of your Fiat 500. Begin by removing the rear crossmember by unscrewing the relevant fixing bolts. Next, remove the main pulley cover, unscrewing and taking it off. This will also allow you to remove the belt connected to the alternator. At this point, unscrew and remove the bolts securing the timing chain cover, and then remove the cover itself. After this, you will also need to remove the engine mount. Now you can remove the timing sprocket and chain, and you will have completed the disassembly. To fit the new chain and reassemble everything, simply repeat these steps in reverse, and you will have finished the replacement.
