Replacement of Front Shock Absorbers

Model: Fiat Punto MK 2, 188 - Years 1999-2011

Lift the vehicle on a hydraulic lift and remove the front wheel. Disconnect the brake fluid line from its bracket and remove the bracket itself; also remove the ABS line bracket if present. Unscrew the mounting bolts of the shock absorber at the hub and extract them. Then, access the engine bay and unscrew the nut securing the shock absorber rod while holding the rod in place with an Allen key. At this point, you can extract the shock absorber from its mount along with the spring: now separate the spring from the shock absorber using suitable clamps to compress the spring before unscrewing the support nut. The spring should then be fitted to the new shock absorber, and proceed in reverse for installation back onto the vehicle.
