How to clean and unlock the starter pawl on the Fiat Punto 188

Model: Fiat Punto MK 2, 188 - Years 1999-2011

Has it ever happened that the pawl got stuck and it was not possible to start the car? Here I am to explain how to solve. The material we use is: long 3 Allen wrench, slotted screwdriver, silicone lubricant, throttle body cleaner and hammer. We disconnect the negative of the battery. We use the Allen key to unscrew the fixing screws of the lower seat cover and unclip it. We detach the transponder sensor. We insert the key and turn it to the first click. With the slotted screwdriver we go to press the metal tab and extract the block by pulling on the key. We remove the seger, insert the key in the stop position and holding the block still in a vice, we go to remove the pawl using the screwdriver and the hammer. Now, having removed the cylinder, we can go and disassemble it and clean all the elements with the farlallato body cleaner. After cleaning everything, let's reassemble the cylinder and lubricate it with silicone lubricant. Let's go and reassemble it in the block and block it with the seger removed previously. Now reassemble the block in place, snapping the tab pressed for extraction. We reassemble the transponder antenna, the lower cover of the column and reconnect the negative pole of the battery.
