How to clean the throttle body and MAF sensors of the Fiat Grande Punto

In this video we can see how to clean the MAF sensors and throttle body of a Fiat Grande Punto: this type of cleaning is very useful especially for diesel engines. The first thing to do is to remove the air filter, which is done by removing its screws on the sides. Once the filter is removed, we can see the components to clean, which in this specific case refer to a petrol/GPL version. One of the sensors is located near the manifold, and to remove it, simply unlock the yellow safety clip by lifting it slightly with a screwdriver: this will allow us to remove the plug. It will then be necessary to unscrew the torx screws and then remove the sensor: we will do the same with the second sensor. The same procedure also applies to the GPL sensor, which requires a little more force: do not be alarmed if you smell a bit of gas when removing it, it is normal. The sensors are cleaned with a specific spray for throttle body cleaning, which can be easily found on e-commerce sites or in physical stores. The cleaning is done by spraying them from a distance of about 30 cm, lightly, several times, and then letting them air dry for about 10 minutes. Then we can reassemble them. Using a damp cloth with the cleaner, wipe the inner walls of the throttle body without touching the butterfly. With the help of an assistant who keeps the accelerator pedal pressed, spray the cleaner on the butterfly. The engine should be kept at about 3000 rpm. Then take a ride to test the engine. Repeat this operation every 6 months for petrol engines and every 3 months for diesel engines.
