To replace the timing belt on the Fiat 500, open the bonnet to access the engine compartment, specifically on the left side of the engine block where the belt and pulleys are located. To gain access, you will need to remove the air filter box and the associated duct: at this point, the central pins of the pulleys can be removed, reducing the tension on the belt, allowing you to remove it. The new belt can then be installed, the pulley nuts should be tightened, and the air filter box can be reinstalled.
