How to Change the Engine Oil and Replace the Filter in a Fiat Grande Punto 1.3 Multijet

To change the engine oil and replace the oil filter, you will need some tools: a new oil filter, a pre-change cleaner, and a container of engine oil SAE 5W-30. Get into the vehicle, pull the bonnet release lever; lift the bonnet and secure it in place with the prop rod. Locate the oil filler cap, open it, and pour in the pre-change cleaner; this will help degrease the engine and eliminate stubborn residues. Before using the cleaner, let the car run for 5 minutes so that the oil is slightly warm, then add the product and let it run for 10-15 minutes. After that, you can proceed to drain the used oil; to do this, lift the front of the vehicle with a jack and secure it safely on axle stands. At this point, remove the plastic cover to access the oil filter bolt. Unscrew the bolt with a 12mm socket and let the oil drain into an empty container; insert the oil cap and re-tighten the bolt with the same socket used before. Now you can move on to replacing the filter: first, disconnect and remove the air intake duct, which will give you access to the filter housing. Remove the housing using a socket with an extension, a Torx socket of 30, and one of 10, then unscrew all the screws and nuts present and remove the cover. Using a 27mm socket, unscrew the filter flange counterclockwise and remove it. Detach the filter cartridge from the flange and remove the gasket; clean the inside with brake cleaner and a cloth, then insert the new filter and the new gasket. Refit the flange and re-tighten all previously removed components.
