How to Replace the Glow Plugs on a Fiat Punto 188 Engine

What to do if the dashboard of your Fiat Punto indicates a fault with the glow plugs? The first step is to spray a bit of WD-40 into the glow plug sockets to see what happens. This is always a good start. These operations should be done with the engine warm. You will need an 8 mm socket spanner. Usually, they are a bit longer than necessary, so you can shorten it to size. Remove the ventilation duct, unscrew the two 10 mm bolts, and take off the engine cover. Be very careful when unscrewing the glow plugs, as they may break, causing serious damage. Measure the current with a voltmeter until you find the burnt one. Using your modified spanner, remove it and replace it. Screw it in by hand first, then tighten gently with the spanner without forcing. Refit the engine cover and the duct. Tighten everything. Job done.
