How to remove the airbag from a Ford Focus MK3

The airbag removal operation must be done with the battery disconnected, and then we must wait at least 15/20 minutes to fully discharge the capacitors of the airbag modules (SRC). We start with the steering wheel straight and the wheels straight: the airbag is secured to the steering wheel by two metal springs held by a hook, now we turn the steering wheel 90° to the back of the steering wheel and we find a hole in the plastic structure: we insert a small screwdriver into the hole, pushing down to compress the spring and release the hook. We repeat the same operation with the release hole on the opposite side. Once released, the airbag will be held only by the electrical connector at the back; we disconnect it by lifting the release lever at the back.
