What Does the "System Shut Down to Save Battery" Message Mean on Ford Vehicles

The "system shut down to save battery" message that appears on Ford vehicles like the F-150, Edge, Bronco, or Explorer turns off electronic systems when the vehicle is not running, preventing you from listening to the radio or using other functions. This message appears due to an overly sensitive EBS sensor: this sensor wraps around the negative battery cable and shuts things down if it detects a low battery charge. Sometimes this sensor is a bit too zealous and activates the system even if the battery is in good condition, preventing you from using the electronic systems (in which case the solution is to disconnect it), or the battery is old or discharging, and the system warns us. Disconnecting the sensor is easy; you will find it wrapped around the negative cable: there is a tab on the back of the sensor; just press it to remove it from the cable, and you're done. If it is the battery, then you will need to decide to replace it.
