How to Program an Old Style Key/Remote on a 2014 Ford Escape/Kuga

Programming an "old style" remote on a 2014 Ford Escape/Kuga (with a blade key and 80-bit chip) is simple. Sit in the driver's seat and close the door. Press the "LOCK" button and then the "UNLOCK" button on the remote to be programmed. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ON and OFF position for four complete cycles (ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON-OFF). The system will beep three times to confirm entry into programming mode. At this point, press the "LOCK" button once. The system will respond with two beeps. Turn the key to the ON position, then OFF. Press "LOCK" to verify functionality. The remote is now programmed. This procedure works for most Ford remotes of that generation.
