How to Repair, Install, Modify or Replace a Broken Ignition Lock Cylinder

If you have any issues with the ignition lock cylinder of a Ford Ranger, this tutorial will show you how to proceed. First, disconnect the negative battery terminal. To remove the old lock cylinder, a star screwdriver is sufficient. Position the key in the "RUN" (third click) position. Insert the screwdriver through the hole located under the lock and pry outward to extract the cylinder. Take the new cylinder and insert it into the empty socket until it clicks into place. Reconnect the negative battery terminal and test the ignition!
