To replace the timing belt on the Ford Focus 1.6 tdCi, open the bonnet to access the engine bay. First, loosen all the screws securing the upper cover and the cylinder head; then detach the cover on the side of the engine. This will provide access to the pulleys, particularly the central bolt of the tensioner roller must be loosened. This will reduce the tension on the belt, allowing you to remove it from its housing. Finally, install a new one and reassemble all previously removed components.
