Installation of DAB Interface on Original Stereo

Digital radio, also known as DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting), is a worldwide standardised procedure for transmitting radio signals in digital format. Digital radio is transmitted over the air, using an antenna. To receive digital radio networks, neither a cable connection nor a satellite dish is required, but a DAB device with an antenna is necessary. DAB also allows for data transmission, such as CD covers, weather maps, or football match results, provided the digital radio has a colour display. Many car radio manufacturers have released DAB interfaces: this is a device that transforms the original FM radio into a true digital receiver. The DAB interface receives the digital signal from a DAB antenna and modulates it to the vehicle's original FM radio. The functions of the device are fully controllable from the vehicle's steering wheel controls, whether using CANBUS, GMLAN, or resistive protocols. All information provided by the digital radio channel is displayed on the radio's screen (radio channel name, song title, news, etc.)
The installation is quick and simple thanks to the use of Plug & Play wiring. To install it, first remove the original radio: detach the support with the start&stop button and unscrew the screw underneath; repeat the same operation on the other side; detach the trim around the ashtray and unscrew the other screws underneath to remove the trim around the radio. Unscrew the screws securing the radio and pull it out of its housing, disconnecting the connectors attached to it. Then use the supplied adapter wiring to complete the installation of the interface and proceed with the configuration.
