How to Replace the Fuel Tank on a Ford F-350 P473

Model: Ford F-350 P473 - Years 2011-2016

This guide shows how to replace the fuel tank on a Ford F-350 P473. If you replace the tank with one of a different capacity, you will need to recalibrate the onboard computer to correctly read the fuel level. The first step is to lift the vehicle using a lift or jack stands. On the left side, disconnect the fuel line retaining clips and remove the tank protection panel. Position a transmission jack under the tank and remove the mounting straps from the frame. Lower the tank enough to disconnect the electrical connectors of the fuel pump and the associated hoses. From the old tank, remove the fuel pump and connection hoses; install them in the new tank. Reassemble everything in position.
